ORION is one of the largest and most well-known European manufacturers. Headquartered in Flensburg, Germany, the company has been in business for over three decades and is considered a powerhouse in the global erotic trade.
Originally founded in 1962 by Beate Uhse, one part was later rebranded as ORION (led by Dirk Rothermond). After 33 years, he handed over the business entirely to his daughter, Maike.
ORION was the first international wholesaler to introduce intimate adult toys with German-language product packaging, breaking a major market barrier at the time. Intimacy products require strict health protocols, and ORION maintains an advanced in-house quality management team at their Flensburg facility.
They explicitly manufacture and design their adult toys to comply with the strict European Safety Directive, ensuring that the materials are completely body-safe, fragrance-free and phthalate-free.
Their quality labs physically test each new batch.
Industry Awards and Critical Recognition: The brand has been highly acclaimed by both adult panels and mainstream design institutions: Erospain Awards: The wholesale arm secured high-profile nominations for "Company of the Year", "Distributor of the Year" and "Lingerie Brand of the Year" (for their signature Cottelli collection). German Design Award:
The "German Design Award" is one of the most prestigious international accolades in the field of product design and communication design. This award has been presented by the German Design Council since 2011.
ORION won the award for excellent product design for their advanced rotating vulva massager Belou, proving that their engineering stands shoulder to shoulder with mainstream consumer technology. E-commerce Store of the Year: Trade body acquisa awarded ORION the No. 1 e-commerce store of the year in the drugstore, wellness and beauty category, praising their unabashedly sex-positive online customer experience. B2C Catalog of the Year: Their physical print consumer catalog was awarded Catalog of the Year by a panel of mail order consultants for its hybrid approach to magazine-catalog design.
